Last weekend, my wife Emily and I, along with The Home Loan Expert’s Bob and Ashley Boedges, were lucky enough to be invited to the Cardinals Wives For Wishes Boots & Bling event! It was an amazing night filled with karaoke, raffles, and chances to meet and talk to the players and their wives. The event raised money for Make-a-Wish Missouri, an organization that dedicates itself to making wishes come true for Missouri children suffering from life-threatening medical illnesses. They granted 329 wishes last year alone, and want to increase that number this year. We were able to meet some of the kids and hear their stories, and the organization does amazing things for them.
The event itself was fantastic. The food was terrific, and I had the best Ooey Gooey Butter Cake I’ve ever had in my life there. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you may not be from St. Louis!) A large group of Cardinals players, including Dexter Fowler and Master of Ceremonies Adam Wainwright, were on hand for the festivities. I got to see Adam and Dexter do karaoke, which was a blast!
I got to spend some time with new Cardinal’s center fielder Dexter Fowler’s mom, which was a lot of fun. She told me all kinds of stories about Dexter, from his travels with other teams to how much she loved being here for her first Cardinals Opening Day this year. Hearing those stories was a really cool way to spend the evening, and I appreciate her spending the time with me.
Overall, the Cardinal’s Wives For Wishes Boots & Bling event was a huge success, raising a ton of money to help make the wishes of more children in Missouri come true. It is a testament to the organization and the Cardinals Wives that the event goes so well every year, and is such a fun fundraiser. We had a blast and can’t wait to go back again next year.
