A Do It Yourself project is a fun way to spend an early fall weekend. There are very few things more satisfying than starting a project, working hard on it, and finishing it. This weekend, we wanted to give you a few projects that you can work on to get your home in shape before winter comes and you don’t ever want to go outside.
Here’s a short list of weekend projects guaranteed to make your house more appealing this fall.
Redo Your Smaller Items
If you have an older home, maybe it’s time to change out some stuff. Tired of old doorknobs? Do you have yellowed lightswitches? These are great, easy things to replace over the day. Swap out the older stuff and make the place look like new.
A Place For Everything
Start looking for things to put in storage. Do you still need pool toys out? Probably not. Is it time to replace the shorts drawer with the sweaters drawer? Probably. Start to get the place ready for fall so you can enjoy a winery or a crisp outside day later.
Wash The Outside
A good pressure wash can restore the color to your house (or remove the color, if you have some mold growing out there). Clean the gross outside of your home to match the clean inside and you’ll be the envy of the neighborhood. Plus, all of that mold won’t get covered up with snow and dirt this winter and get worse.
Paint a Room
If you have a room you hate, repaint it! Find a color you like, lay down dropcloths and painter’s tape, and change that room from a bummer to a winner!
Fixtures Aren’t Forever
New faucets or lamps can make a huge difference to the look of your home. If you feel dated or unfashionable, or just want to get a new look, try changing out a faucet. If you’re not plumbing or electrically inclined, everything that you ever need to know is on YouTube as a tutorial. Seriously. Google it if you can’t find it.
